Littelfuse unveils asymmetrical TVS diodes

News
First range designed to protect SiC MOSFET gates from overvoltage events

Littelfuse has announced the SMFA asymmetrical series surface-mount TVS diode, the first TVS solution specifically designed to protect SiC MOSFET gates from overvoltage events.

The series is tailored to the negative and positive gate voltage ratings of SiC MOSFETs, and is said to be compatible with all available Littelfuse and other leading SiC MOSFETs.

Unlike traditional solutions that require multiple Zener or TVS diodes, the SMFA series is designed to effectively protect against ringing and overshoot phenomena in SiC MOSFET gate drive circuits using a single component, saving PCB space and reducing the complexity of circuit designs.

The new diodes are suitable for a variety of applications including AI / data centre server power supplies, EV infrastructure power systems, and hi-rel industrial power supplies.

The diodes are available in tape and reel format in quantities of 3,000.
