Artesyn Extends Family of 1100 Watt Bulk Front End Power Supplies

News

Artesyn Embedded Technologies has announced the extension of its 1100 W DS1100 bulk front end power supply family with two new series that accept a wide range of 90 to 264 Vac and -40 to -72 Vdc inputs. The DS1100SL series is an ideal power supply for system designers looking to minimize space requirements in network switches, routers, enterprise servers and similar space-constrained application.

The new DS1100SLPE-3 AC-DC and DS1100TDC DC-DC power supplies are housed in industry standard 1U x 2.1-inch rack-mounting packages, with the same output connector. This makes it ideal for data center applications where both AC and DC power are needed.

The DS1100SLPE series bulk front end AC-DC power supply accepts a wide range 90 to 264 Vac input and provides a main 12 V output plus a 3.3 V standby output. It is an 80 Plus Platinum supply with a high peak efficiency of 94 percent and the main 12 V output can deliver up to 90 amps.

The DS1100TDC series is a DC-in version of the bulk front end AC-DC power supply that accepts a wide range -40 to -72 Vdc input and provides a main 12 V output that can deliver up to 91.7 amps, plus a 3.3 V standby output.

Both new power supply series'stay within regulation down to zero load, making them perfect for feeding downstream DC-DC converters in systems that use distributed power architectures (DPA). Active current sharing enables multiple supplies to be paralleled for very high current applications without need of additional components. The power supplies are hot pluggable and ideal for fault tolerant, N+1 and N+N redundant applications. They are available in two airflow versions "“ dc-connector to ac-connector and vice versa.

These digitally-controlled power supplies are PMBus compliant. A built-in I2C serial interface in each solution allows set-up, monitoring and control to be performed using Artesyn's universal PMBus graphical user interface.
