Cree make a splash at PCIM

News

Cree, Inc., a supplier of silicon carbide (SiC) based power products "” including SiC MOSFETs, Schottky diodes, and modules "” is exhibiting, introducing a new product, and speaking at PCIM 2015, which will take place May 19 "“ 21, 2015 in Nuremberg, Germany.

PCIM addresses recent developments in power semiconductors, passive components, thermal management, energy storage, sensors, and new materials and systems.

Exhibiting with distributor partner MEV Elektronik Service GmbH in Hall 9, Booth 242 (#9-242), Cree will showcase its portfolio of SiC diodes, MOSFETs, modules, and bare die; introduce a new family of 900V SiC MOSFETs; and demonstrate how Cree SiC technology enables smaller, lower cost, and more efficient power systems capable of switching at higher frequencies and operating at higher temperatures.

Demonstrations will include an extremely lightweight (<33kg), high power density 50kW solar inverter that is based on the latest Cree SiC modules, only one-fifth the size and weight of equivalent, industry-leading silicon-based inverters, and capable of achieving 99% efficiency; a 220W SiC-based LED power supply; and a power stack that demonstrates how Cree's 1.2kV, 300A SiC modules can revitalize older, IGBT-based systems.

Cree representatives will also participate in several speaking engagements at the conference. On Tuesday, May 19, Marcelo Schupbach, technical marketing manager, Cree Power, will discuss Cree power technology and its impact on PV inverter designs during the PCIM vendor session in Hall 7, Booth 260 from 1:40"“2:00pm. Then, at 3:30 that day, Jimmy Liu, application engineering manager, Cree Power, will present the "High Density and High Power Single-Stage LED Driver with a 1200V SiC MOSFET" poster during the PCIM poster session to be held at the foyer's ground floor entrance. On Wednesday, May 20, Paul Kierstead, marketing director, Cree Power, will discuss SiC's impact on chargers and inverters during the Yole Développement event spanning 10:00 "“ 11:00am in Hall 6, Booth 345. Immediately after, from 11:00am "“ 12:00pm, Jeffrey Casady, business development and programs manager, Cree Power, will discuss new developments in SiC MOSFETs from 900V to 10kV during the Bodo's Power Systems Forum in Hall 6, Booth 345.
