Power Electronics Enjoying Inverter Success

News

Power Electronics is having quantifiable success throughout North America. The combination of customer service and the unique HEC-UL inverter gives investors and EPCs an intelligent solution when choosing which inverter to be at the heart of their solar plant.

The HEC- UL inverter has been installed throughout the entire country, with locations from Massachusetts, Utah, Florida and California.

Most notably AP North Lake, a 20MW solar plant in California which utilizes the capabilities of 16 HEC-UL inverters to transfer power to the grid. The inverters are equipped with Power Electronics new FSDK NEC 2014 compliant DC recombiner. The recombiners feature up to 40 inputs, isolating contactors, zone monitoring and UL listed fuse ratings (from 70A to 400A). The FSDK cabinet design allows the DC contactors to be locked out individually or in groups while ensuring compliance with NEC2014'S 690.15(C).

The Automatic Redundant Modular Slave System (ARMS2) offers the most competitive solution in the market with high efficiency at lower loads and unbeatable availability meaning the inverter starts producing power earlier in the day than competitor solutions. Instead of the entire inverter going offline in the event of an internal fault, the HEC-UL is able to re-route the power from the faulty module to another module, minimizing losses.

Power Electronics has an impressive solar portfolio in Europe and is continually adding to the installed base with new projects in North America. The total installed capacity will soon reach 100 MW with a goal to reach 600 MW by Q4 2015.

The recent weather conditions in the North-East of the country provided the perfect environment for the HEC to showcase its impressive protection capability.
