11th Hour Project Selects EV ARC to Ignite EV Adoption

News

Envision Solar International, Inc, the EV charging product company, has announced that the Schmidt Family Foundation has selected its EV ARC product after considering over 100 other submissions for projects aimed at increasing the adoption of EVs in the United States.

The EV ARC units will be deployed as part of Charge Across Town's project "Driving on Sunshine," which is a collaboration between the San Francisco Department of the Environment and Envision Solar to showcase the world's first fully autonomous, mobile, and renewable EV charging station.

"The 11th Hour Project recognizes the importance of linking transportation to clean, renewable energy in order to move our nation away from its dependence on fossil fuels, and the "Driving on Sunshine" project will help people realize that electric cars can be fueled by just the sun," said San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee.

"We are very proud to have been selected by the 11th Hour Project and we applaud their initiative and leadership in the vital area of transitioning the US to a clean and sustainable transportation model," said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Envision Solar. "The EV ARC units will make this project successful through their transportability and ease of deployment as we place them in different locations throughout the city during the first year of the project. EV drivers will be able to charge from clean solar energy in locations where it would be virtually impossible to deploy grid tied chargers. This is exactly the sort of initiative which will help speed the adoption of EVs in cities across the US and we are delighted that our products are helping to make that happen."

The EV ARC is a cost-effective, easy-to-install, standalone solar charging station that requires no engineering, foundation, trenching, building permit or grid connection. Invented, engineered and manufactured in the United States, the EV ARC fits inside a standard parking space and generates enough renewable energy to provide an average of 55 and as many as 100+ electric miles each day. The energy is stored and ready for use in the 22 kWh on-board battery storage. The system's clean solar electrical generation is enhanced by the patented EnvisionTrak sun tracking system, enabling the solar array to follow the sun, generating 18 to 25 percent more electricity than a conventional fixed array.

Frost and Sullivan forecasts that EV charging infrastructure deployments will grow at a 128% CAGR over the next five years. Solar powered charging offers the cleanest and easiest method for the deployment of such infrastructure particularly in cities and remote locations.
