Innoscience responds to Infineon lawsuits

News
Innoscience says patent infringement claims are "attempts to unfairly undermine Innoscience’s market standing"

Chinese GasN company Innoscience has responded to the accusations of patent infringement by German semiconductor giant Infineon Technologies AG.

In July 2024, Infineon expanded its GaN patent battle with Innoscience, adding three patents to infringement allegations.

The amended complaint (filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California) alleges that as many as 88 of Innoscience's GaN-based chips infringe Infineon patents. These include US Patent numbers 8,686,562; 9,070,755; and 8,264,003.

Earlier this year, Infineon Technologies Austria sued Innoscience alleging that 30 of its products infringed US Patent No. 9,899,481. A subsequent injunction stopped Innoscience from showing its GaN devices at last month's PCIM trade exhibition, held in Nuremberg, Germany, June 11th-13th.

Innoscience says that all these claims are "strategic attempts to unfairly undermine Innoscience’s market standing". The company adds that it remains confident that "Infineon’s allegations lack merit and that the asserted patents will ultimately be deemed invalid. Therefore, these lawsuits will not affect Innoscience's current product sales and normal operations."

Innoscience says it will file invalidity petitions against all asserted patents.
