Onsemi introduces 7th gen IGBT IPMs

News

Modules enable more efficient energy conversion for three-phase inverter drives

Onsemi has announced the availability of 1200V SPM31 Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) featuring the latest generation Field Stop 7 (FS7) IGBTs.

The SPM31 IPMs are said to deliver high efficiency, small footprint and high power density, making them suitable for three-phase inverter drive applications such as heat pumps, commercial HVAC systems, servo motors, and industrial pumps and fans.

For example, Onsemi says its 25A-rated SPM31 using FS7 IGBT technology can decrease power losses by up to 10 percent and increase power density up to 9 percent, compared to its previous generation products.

The modules contain gate-driving ICs, multiple on-module protection features along with FS7 IGBTs with the ability to support a wide range of currents, from 15A to 35A.
