Dyson To Build 3 Autonomous Electric Vehicles
Dyson, the British Inventor has announced that his company will be developing and building 3 models of Electric Vehicle, that will have some elements of Automation.
The company will develop its own automation technology rather than resorting to buying in technology from other companies. They will even be developing their own motors too according to Sir James Dyson, when he appeared on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show.
"We're going to make it ourselves, whether we make it here or somewhere in the Far East or wherever. We haven't decided yet," the inventor stated. He has also recently mentioned that he will be investing £2bn in the electric vehicle venture. According to Carbuzz, Dyson has already received £174m backing from the UK Government.
Whilst the first model is due to appear within the next couple of years, Dyson has stated that it will only be produced in small numbers "in the single-digit thousands". The next 2 models would be "released later" and built in a substantially higher volume.
It has been stated that the first model will not use solid-state batteries. SSB offer faster charging times and more range than the more conventional Lithium Cells. Fortunately, SSBs will be used models 2 and 3.
It is exciting to think that the man who created over 4000 prototypes for his revolutionary vacuum cleaner design, will be bringing his unique take to the roads very soon. It is just a shame at this stage that no final designs of the vehicles have been eluded to. The image used in this article is only what we at TaaS Magazine hope model 1 will look like.
