The European battery research project SeNSE has been officially
launched. Over the next four years, five research institutes and six
industrial companies from seven European countries will work together to
find solutions for the next generation of lithium-ion batteries.
The Volvo Low Impact Green Heavy Transport Solutions (LIGHTS) Innovation
Showcase, held at Volvo Trucks’ TEC Equipment dealership’s Fontana
location, revealed the progress that has been achieved since the
announcement of the Volvo LIGHTS project in late 2018.
During a visit to Kaiserslautern, Germany, Federal Minister of Economics
Peter Altmaier, Prime Minister Malu Dreyer and Minister of Economics
Dr. Volker Wissing emphasised the strategic importance of the planned
battery cell plant for Rhineland-Palatinate.
Due to the high demand for test capacities on battery modules and
battery systems of electrically powered vehicles, Valmet Automotive is
working with high pressure to set up its Battery Test Centre (BTC) in
Bad Friedrichshall, nearby city of Heilbronn.
