Teledyne LeCroy Demonstrate 2kV and 8kV Safety-Rated High Voltage Differential Probes

Teledyne LeCroy today introduces two new additions to the HVD3000 series of high voltage differential probes -- the 2 kV safety-rated HVD3206 and the 8.4 kV safety-rated HVD3605. These probes demonstrate Teledyne LeCroy's leadership in the fast growing power electronics market by providing superior performance and uniquely meeting specific industry test needs per the latest industry standards. Like the existing 1 kV safety-rated HVD310x probes, these new probes provide excellent performance by offering the best gain accuracy, widest differential voltage range, high offset range and exceptional common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR).

The HVD3605 is safety-rated for 8485 V (DC + pk AC) and 6000 Vrms for the best test coverage of 5kV class electrical apparatus and power electronics. This probe has exceptional 1% gain accuracy, excellent CMRR, standard 6 meter cable, the industry's widest differential voltage range of 7000 V (DC + pk AC) with a 7600 V maximum measurable differential voltage before amplifier saturation, and an industry-best offset range (up to 6000 V) along with 100 MHz of bandwidth. The HVD3605 is the only probe that permits AC Line, DC bus, and drive/inverter output voltage probing through 4160 V apparatus ratings.

The HVD3206 is the world's first safety-rated 2000 V (DC + peak AC) and 1500 Vdc probe per the IEC/EN 61010-031:2015 standard. This probe was specifically designed to address solar PV string inverter requirements for 1500 Vdc inputs. This higher DC input voltage will become common in utility-scale string inverters since it allows economies of scale (more PV modules on each string) and lower installed cost. Teledyne LeCroy is the first company to offer a HV differential probe suitable for this application. The HVD3206 has the same excellent 1% gain accuracy and a 2000 Vpk differential voltage range, 120 MHz of bandwidth, and the same industry-leading CMRR performance as the 1 kV safety-rated HVD3106 probe.

Also introduced today are "no accessory" (-NOACC) versions of the existing HVD3102 and HVD3106 probes. The HVD3102-NOACC and HVD3106-NOACC provide an alternative to customers seeking excellent 1 kV safety-rated high voltage differential probes, but not requiring the full range of tip accessories. These are ideal for the price conscious user who already has the required tip accessories or who will not need the full accessory tip set.

All HVD3000 series probes connect to the oscilloscope through the ProBus interface. The ProBus interface provides power and communications to the probe so there is no need for a separate power supply or batteries and attenuation is automatically selected based on oscilloscope gain range (V/div) setting. Autozero can also easily be performed through the oscilloscope channel menu
