Vishay unveils RCP, thick film chip resistors on AlN substrates
The aluminium nitride based devices are for high-power, surface-mount RF applications
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of thick film chip resistors grown on AlN. Offered in the compact 1206 case size, the Vishay Dale RCP series devices feature a power rating of 1 W at +70 °C with a standard board mount and up to 11 W with active temperature control.Optimised for high-power aerospace, military, industrial, and telecom systems, RCP series resistors feature a stable thick film resistive element on an AlN substrate and an epoxy encapsulation. Offering very high thermal conductivity in a small package size, the RCP series features an operating temperature range from -55 °C to +155 °C. RCP series resistors offer a resistance range from 10 ohms to 2 kilohms, tolerance of 2 percent and 5 percent, and TCR of 100 ppm/°C. For improved solderability, the devices are available with tin/lead and lead-free wraparound terminations over a nickel barrier. The resistors are compliant to RoHS directive 2011/65/EU and halogen-free according to the JEDEC JS709A definition.Samples and production quantities of the RCP are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
