Mersen wins Siemens contract to equip its latest generation of wind turbine
Mersen has announced that it has won a contract with Siemens Wind Power for the SICS (Siemens Integrated Control System) project. The deal is worth around €2.4 million and deliveries will take place during 2014. It will cover requirements for some 600 to 700 wind turbines representing a capacity of 2.1GW.
The contract is to supply coolers, busbars and fuses comprising Mersen's power electronics bundle offer. These items will be integrated in the new control systems for Siemens' latest generation of wind turbines of over 2MW. The system should spread across Siemens' entire wind turbine program.
Mersen has a history of working together very closely with Siemens. Mersens' global manufacturing and sales base provided a crucial advantage enabling it to work very closely alongside the project participants. This includes negotiating and signing the contract in Denmark, design work in the UK and delivery for assembly in Germany.
