Visteon showcases future automotive technology in India
Visteon Corporation is bringing its vision of mobility for the year 2020 to India. The company is showcasing its e-Bee vehicle concept "“ representing the global automotive supplier's answer to future mobility challenges "“ to customers in India as part of an Asia tour for the highly acclaimed vehicle. Visteon and its majority-owned subsidiary, Halla Visteon Climate Control (HVCC), are also introducing new vehicle climate and cockpit electronics products for the India market.
The e-Bee concept displays next-generation technologies such as a smart energy management system, integrated climate system module, car-Cloud connectivity, user-friendly driver interface, airbag-free cockpit, sustainable interior, and more. Using touch display-based controls and Cloud-centred profile storage, the e-Bee's features are designed to be immediately familiar and intuitive for each individual user.
Fully compatible with electric vehicle and hybrid platforms, the e-Bee demonstrates intelligent mobility "“ gathering and disseminating useful driving-related data, acting as part of a wider mobility-enabling network and integrating technology and design that is simple, flexible and frugal. The technologies featured in the e-Bee concept range from advanced development to application- and commercialization-ready.
Increasing Visteon's focus on the Indian market, its subsidiary HVCC "“ the world's second largest automotive climate systems company "“ is introducing key climate control products in India. HVCC's new rotary suction valve (RS) compressor, with an optimized weight-reduction design, can reduce costs for vehicle manufacturers and is designed to improve fuel efficiency and durability. A second new product line "“ exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers "“ is designed to enhance fuel economy and significantly reduce emissions. HVCC is also introducing an ultra-slim heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, a compact system that is approximately 10 percent lighter and 30 percent smaller than most conventional HVAC systems. Other HVCC products available for the India market include thin, high-efficiency heat exchangers, internal heat exchanger air conditioner lines, and PACE award-winning cooling fan assemblies and "zero leak" metal seal fittings.
Visteon Electronics is among the market leaders in vehicle cockpit electronics in India. To meet the demands of the Indian market, it has developed a new infotainment system that enables multi-device connectivity and management of content to deliver a rich experience. To keep the vehicle technology relevant with consumer electronic trends, Visteon's solution is capable of system improvements and enhancements through software updates. This infotainment functionality is accessible to drivers and passengers through Visteon's human-machine interaction (HMI). The new infotainment system was designed and developed with involvement of Visteon Electronics engineers at its technical centers in Chennai and Pune.
The Visteon Electronics software team in Chennai, which supports Visteon's global embedded software requirements, has been instrumental in the development of a camera-enhanced cockpit concept that utilizes Visteon's strength in innovation and integration to stretch the boundaries of what cameras can do in the vehicle.
The camera-enhanced cockpit concept explores the use of cameras to recognize and track a driver's face. The user interface is then able to determine and react to the direction of the driver's gaze "“ both inside and outside of the vehicle "“ thereby mitigating driver distraction. This can assist the driver by providing automatic personalization, pedestrian sensing, traffic sign recognition and intruder alerts. Visteon has also developed a haptic technology-based integrated center panel, which enhances intuitiveness and the driving experience.
Visteon Electronics is also ready with an in-vehicle wireless charging device for mobile phones. Other products from the Visteon stable for India include an App synthesizer and Cloud connectivity for audio infotainment systems, and a fully automated temperature control system.
Visteon Interiors, a leading global interior systems supplier, is introducing sustainable interior technologies to the Indian market. Visteon has developed and patented an injected expanded polypropylene (IEPP) material for door trims that is considerably lighter than a normal injection molded part, and designed to be affordable and easy to recycle. Visteon Interiors is also introducing a piano black molded technology in India. The technology involves an innovative tooling and material combination that achieves high gloss specifications without painting to achieve a premium look.
